MHI Vestas

The founder of Mitsubishi, Yataro Iwasaki, took a lease of the Government-owned Nagasaki Shipyard in the late 1800’s. He named it Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, and started the ship building business on a full scale.

The business was later turned into Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., and in 1934 was launched as Mitsubishi Heavy-Industries, Ltd., establishing its position as the largest private firm in Japan, manufacturing ships, heavy machinery, airplanes, and railroad cars.
