The homeroom curriculum is split into four units of roughly equal length. The topics are Organisation and Study Skills, Service and Action or Projects, Social and Emotional Learning, and International Mindedness.
Homeroom lessons are also an opportunity for teachers help support students learn how to use ManageBac, run elections for student council, prepare a class assembly, and reflect on their progress ahead of and after parent conferences.
The programme is age appropriate and becomes more adult and complex as the students progress through the MYP levels. Themes include research and study skills, exam and test techniques, relationships, physical and mental health issues, safety and careers advice. The homeroom is also at the heart of pastoral care at AIS and the homeroom teacher is responsible for all matters of student well-being.
