MYP Projects

At AIS, students complete both the Community Project (MYP 3) and Personal Project (MYP 5).

The community project focuses on community and service, encouraging students to explore their right and responsibility to implement service as action in the community. Examples of previous community projects at AIS include helping at a local animal shelter, improving the AIS school garden and working with orphans in Lebanon.

The personal projectencourages students to practice and strengthen their approaches to learning (ATL) skills, to consolidate prior and subject-specific learning, and to develop an area of personal interest. The personal project is a compulsory IB requirement, previous examples include exploring self-worth and writing a self-worth guide and composing a jazz piano piece.

MYP projects help students to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile; provide students with an essential opportunity to demonstrate ATL skills developed through the MYP; and foster the development of independent, lifelong learners. The projects are valuable preparation for the Extended Essay in the Diploma programme, as well as Higher Education studies.
